Akropolis: Athena is an expansion to the acclaimed Akropolis base game, set in the vibrant world of the Ancient Mediterranean, where master architects compete to construct the most prestigious cities. This expansion introduces a new layer of strategy as players seek the favor of Athena, goddess of wisdom, war, and craftsmanship, to earn glory and prosperity.
In this expansion, players will take on new challenges by completing Construction cards, each requiring specific city layouts to fulfill. Successfully completing these cards allows players to claim pieces of the Statue of Athena and acquire Mini-tiles that enhance their city’s development. Strategic planning is key, balancing city building with the completion of Construction cards will grant additional points and valuable advantages.
Akropolis: Athena builds on the core mechanics of the base game, integrating the new Construction cards seamlessly. Each architect may complete each card only once, requiring careful management of resources, timing, and tile placement to optimize scoring opportunities.
The game ends when only one tile remains in the Construction Site and all stacks have been depleted. Scoring proceeds as in the base game, but players who have assembled the Statue of Athena earn bonus points for their Stones, adding an extra layer of tactical depth.
The architect who designs the most magnificent and prosperous city, amassing the highest number of points, wins the favor of Athena and triumphs in the contest for eternal prestige.
